I was just browisng through a few educational gaming websites for children and I found one of them quite intresting and helpful, in terms of generating ideas for how we would design our game. The website covers a number of gaming topics in which children get to interact with and learn whilst also having fun. The games are based on the following topics:
- Maths
- Language
- Science
- Geography & History
- Arts & Music
There are atleast 30 games or more in each subject area. In particular, I was looking at a geography game, where the users have to guess capitals of countries. The Interface for that game reminded me of something similar to what we were discussing in class, where we would use the shape of countries on the map... Anyway, chek it out:

I have found this PDF article were the idea here is playing with cards. This is called C-Card. You can have a card game for children which they can learn and have fun with.
ReplyDeletecards can have numbers on or anything else your choice and you can give kids instructions of what you want them to do
You can create a maths game, map game, etc.
I have the PDF I'll show it to you guys next week in lab
the first bit of research i did was using the diagram that i made in class. Using this, i have found that the two most successful looking subjects to do are Geography and English...i feel that music would be the most interesting, but i dont think that everyone in the group knows enough about it to use it as a project.

these are a few examples of kids games for geography. a positive point we can draw from this is that the idea we discussed in class last week is not among them!
I also had a look at english games, and noted that all the games we thought of have been created in some form or another.
Will bring in further notes tomorrow
